This month, FOSTA (Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act) was signed into law by Trump. But make no mistake, this bill may do little to protect the victims of sex trafficking and will instead victimize women who earn an honest living from sex work. And in case you somehow weren't aware, sex workers deserve our respect. Their work is real work. FOSTA (and the senate version, SESTA) make no distinction between consensual, voluntary sex acts and sex trafficking. Therefore the safety, livelihoods, and even families of sex workers may be in jeopardy if their access to work websites are revoked out of nowhere.
Just imagine turning up to work one day only to find that your boss, job, and office have all instantly vanished without a trace. Imagine too that the (alibet limited) protections you had to stay safe in your industry were also gone with the wind. No human deserves this. FOSTA and SESTA are cruel bills born out of a hatred of women and their sexual agency. Sex trafficking needs to stop. Let's start by decriminalizing legitimate sex work so that actual trafficking may be easier to classify.
In support of all our lovely sex worker babes, Ultrapop would like to offer a free $20 gift card to show our solidarity. To redeem, use code FUCKFOSTA at checkout. ♥
